I love identified photographs. The genealogist in me wants to preserve these images in hopes that someone out there is searching for their surnames. It makes me sad to think of all the people in my collection that have been forgotten, which I suppose is one of the many reasons why I do this.

Inscribed on Album page: Great-great Uncle Nat Clark, husband of / Elizabeth Phelps Clark. / Came to Ohio in 1832. Dog "Troy" became name of Troy Township. Inscribed on verso of paper sleeve: Nathaniel Clark I found Nathaniel Clark and his wife Elizabeth in the 1860 Troy, Ashland, Ohio Census. In this census he was recorded as being 68 years old, making his birthdate abt. 1792. Page 1 of Phelps Album. Small bon-ton tintype in carte-sized sleeve.
